Zephyr Andrew is an experienced patent attorney in counseling, implementing patent strategies, and preparing and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications for individual inventors, startups, and larger companies. Technology areas in which Zephyr has expertise include electrical and mechanical systems (e.g., robotic control systems for aircraft and support structure inspections, sensor technologies, machine vision and imaging systems), software (e.g., mobile phone applications, messaging, vessel management systems and social media), renewable energy technologies (e.g., solar energy-related systems and hydrodynamic and static water cavitation systems) and energy efficiency technologies (e.g., fenestration assemblies, HVAC and chillers). In these technology areas, he builds and manages patent portfolios, conducts intellectual property due diligence investigations, and performs invalidity and patentability opinions.

In addition to utility patents, Zephyr also advises his clients on the different types of protections, e.g., design patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets, available for his clients’ intellectual property. He also serves as local counsel on various intellectual property litigation matters.

Prior to joining ecotechlaw®, Zephyr was a sole practitioner representing entrepreneurs, startups and small businesses. He helped launch new companies, products and services in the fields of social media, mobile applications, cloud computing and renewable energy. Working with his clients in all stages of their business development, he assisted with duties ranging from developing business plans and corporate formation to protecting intellectual property and drafting or reviewing licensing and distribution agreements.

Before becoming an attorney, Zephyr was a mechanical engineer at Northrop Grumman Corporation, a leading aerospace and defense company. There, Zephyr provided technical support and research and development for missile launch, propulsion, and power generation systems for naval submarines and surface ships.
